Unlike other scholarships, our General Sir John Monash Foundation Scholars are not limited by age, discipline, or which countries they can consider studying in.
General Sir John Monash Foundation Scholarships are granted lifetime membership to the John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy. The Academy has been created to harness the potential and promote the leadership of all Scholars, building up their professional profiles, demonstrating their accomplishments, and creating a platform that will improve their engagement within the community across all sectors: Government, business, education, engineering, arts and more.
The Leadership Academy is financed to solely guarantee that our Students can collectively work on responding to challenges and handling the most complex national and global issues of our time.
Flinders University is a public research university in Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1966, it was named in honor of the British navigator Matthew Flinders, who researched and studied the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.
Flinders is an overgrown university and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group. The university pioneered a cross-disciplinary process of education, and its faculties of medicine and the humanities have been rated among the nation’s top 10.
The 2021 Times Higher Education ranking of the world’s top universities rate Flinders University in the 251 – 300th bracket. Flinders University offers about 160 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as higher degree research surveillance across all disciplines.
However, most courses use new information and communication technologies to augment face-to-face teaching and provide flexible options.
By the late 1950s, the University of Adelaide’s North Terrace campus was approaching capacity. In 1960, Premier Thomas Playford disclosed that 150 hectares (370 acres) of state government-owned land in Burbank (now Bedford Park) would be given to the University of Adelaide for the establishment of a second campus.
Planning started in 1961. The principal designate of the new campus, economist, and professor Peter Karmel was obstinate that the new campus should operate alone from the North Terrace campus.
He expected that the Bedford Park campus would be free to innovate and not be bound by tradition. Capital works started in 1962 with a grant of £3.8 million from the Australian Universities Commission.
Furthermore, Architect Geoff Harrison, in conjunction with architectural firm Hassell, McConnell, and Partners, designed a new university that, with future expansions, could finally accommodate up to 6000 students.
