The Public Affairs Section of U.S. Mission Ghana announces that it will be launching the Fulbright African Research Scholar Program for the academic year 2023/24.
It is the Fulbright Africa Research Scholar Program is financed by the U.S. Department of State and is administered to the Institute of International Education (IIE). The program offers faculty members of tertiary or academic institutions of research in Ghana the opportunity to apply for two kinds of grants, which include research grants as well as Program and Curriculum Development Grants..

- Grants are not intended for the sole purpose of attending conferences, writing doctoral dissertations, traveling and consultation with various institutions, nor for clinical medical research involving patient contact.
Eligibility for Fulbright African Research Scholar Program
- Ghanaian nationals or permanent residents who reside in Ghana are eligible. It is important to note that Ghanaian citizens who have dual citizenship in their home country of the U.S. are not qualified to participate in the program.
- Candidates must be employed in the manner necessary based on the kind of grant they’re applying for.
- Research GrantsGhanaian faculty members from universities or researchers; minimum three years of teaching experience as well as a strong research record are required.
- Programming or Curriculum Development GrantsGhanaian university administrators or faculty created to support university faculty or administrators with less experience, and who might not have had accessibility to current research and teaching advances in their discipline.
- The academic degree required is in accordance with the grant type each candidate is applying to.
- Research Grantsa doctorate or similar terminal qualification in their fields at the date of application.
